As the Iowa affiliate of the National Wildlife Federation, the Iowa Wildlife Federation is the leading voice for conservation minded sportsmen in Iowa. Iowa Wildlife Federation is committed to protecting wildlife habitat, promoting common sense solutions to natural resource issues, enhancing hunting, fishing and other recreational opportunities, and educating and inspiring future generations of Iowan’s the importance of our natural resources.
Today, the Iowa Wildlife Federation continues to unite hunters, anglers, hikers and campers, as well as other outdoor enthusiasts behind the goal of conservation.
Iowa Wildlife Federation:
- Supports sustainable conservation programs in the Farm Bill;
- Strongly promotes fully enforcing the Clean Water Act for all Iowa’s wetlands;
- Supports efforts to maintain and enhance recreational opportunities, such as hunting and fishing, on public lands and the protection of current holdings together with cooperative public-private access programs;
- Promotes peregrine falcon restoration, restoration of--and soon, limited harvest of--river otters. Administers the Trumpeter Swan Trust Fund;
- Recognized leader in urban deer management task forces, conservation education council, hunter education, Wildlife Diversity Initiative;
- Engages future generations of Iowans by distributing National Wildlife Week materials to Iowa’s schools; sponsors annual grade school Wildlife Poster Contest, supports hunter education programs, youth hunting opportunities
- Supports programs that educate the public about Iowa’s wonderful and diverse natural resources;
- Publishes a quarterly newsletter to keep our members informed about hot conservation issues;

How We Work
IWF Board Members provide the information, education and advocacy to all Iowa citizens necessary to conserve our natural resources and protect our natural heritage.
IWF consists of a network of individual associate Members and affiliated clubs with wide ranging interests in outdoor activities, conservation and natural resources issues and concerns; providing grass roots efforts to affect natural resource policies.
IWF's Board of Directors is made up of an Executive Committee (comprised of the President, Conservation Vice-President, Administrative Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and Past President, as well as a Board of Directors, IWF members elected at large or from a geographic region of Iowa. The board meets four times per year, in different locations around the state.
IWF Affiliated clubs and Individual Associate Members at the Annual Convention debate and set resolutions that impact all of Iowa's citizens.
As the Iowa affiliate of the National Wildlife Federation, IWF elects representatives/delegates to National Wildlife Federation’s annual meeting to debate and set resolutions that impact our nation’s natural resources.
